CREATIVE PROTEST AGAINST THE SPRINGER AWARD CEREMONY – 24.09.2026 – 17:30 – BERLIN

PETER THIEL

  • central force behind the global rise of fascism.
  • owns and operates the mass surveillance software company Palantir.
  • owns and operates the AI-killer-drone company Anduril.

RECEIVES THE AXEL-SPRINGER-AWARD

Axel Springer group:

  • Daily newspaper agency with highest circulation in Germany
  • Supporters of the AfD and fascism
  • Owned by billionaire & Thiel-friend Döpfner

FOR HIS “SOCIAL AND DEMOCRATIC ACHIEVEMENTS.”

A person who opposes women’s voting rights and believes that democracy and freedom are incompatible.

A man who makes his money through surveillance, wars, and killing.

You find more in-depth infos on this site.

He may be worthy of the Springer press, but he is not worthy of us.

We say:

Why Gandalf?

Thiel is a huge Lord of the Rings fan. His surveillance company, Palantir, is named after the magical stones that the Dark Lord Sauron uses to pursue world domination. We think that’s bullshit and reference one of the epic scenes in the movie with “Thiel shall not pass.” We’re also alluding to international protests against Thiel, such as those in his new adopted home of Buenos Aires.

Getting There

The stage will be on the crossing of the Rudi-Dutschke-Straße and Lindenstraße.

The police will likely close the street in front of the Axel Springer skyscraper (Axel-Springer Str. 65) and Zimmerstraße.

Legal Advice for Actions

In case you find yourself in a confrontational situation with the police on Thursday, we’ve put together some legal information for you here.

  1. Look out for one another and show solidarity 👥
  2. The rally is a registered gathering. The police must allow you access. They may block off streets, in which case you’ll have to take a detour 💫
  3. We have an Investigation Committee (EA) run by the RAZ. You can call them if people are taken to the detention center (Gesa) or go missing after the protest ends. You can also call the EA if you end up at the Gesa; they’ll provide you with support. Be careful not to make any incriminating statements over the phone. And remember to check out again once you’ve left the Gesa.
The EA can be reached at ☎️ 030 509304080
🕵🏻 If you want to remain anonymous, you can leave your personal information at home and draw a number before the action: https://raz-ev.org/nummern/ Write it down on your body with waterproof ink/memorize it well and give it to a buddy.
  4. We haven’t put together our own legal sheet for this action 📝 You can view an overview from “Widersetzen” here (of course, some information, such as phone numbers, is incorrect) https://widersetzen.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Antirepression-1×1-ENG.pdf
And this legal aid brochure for Berlin/Brandenburg provides you with a very comprehensive overview https://www.ende-gelaende.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Broschuere_BB-B_042024_english.cleaned.pdf

Barriers and Accessibility

Noise levels may be higher at and around the rally.

We expect a heavy police presence at the rally and in the surrounding area.

This may result in unwieldy scenes.

We have an awareness team on-site and an “out-of-action” area outside. Please approach the people wearing high-visibility vests on-site.

Nearest barrier-free restrooms: Waldeckpark / Alte Jakobstraße (500 m).

Three reasons why it’s important for you to join:

1 – Peter Thiel isn’t coming just to pick up an award. Thiel wants to impose his far-right libertarian ideology on Europe. He has a fortune worth billions at his disposal to do so. Germany, with its far-right AfD party, is his gateway to Europe.

2 – In recent years, we have successfully demonstrated how we, as an open society, deal with autocrats like Trump and Musk. We stand for an open society, for queerness, and for boundless solidarity.

3 – Fun! Berlin’s community is fighting back with the tools we have: loud protests, diversity & queerness, satire, and creative interventions.

Any questions? You can send an email to info@thielshallnotpass.org. However, we can’t promise that we’ll respond right away.
